This year, IFOWS is privileged to have been chosen as platform by Vinitaly -the world's largest exhibition of wines and spirits held every year in the beautiful city of Verona- to launch the Indian leg of “Vinitaly World Wine Tour”. The event, aptly named Vinitaly India, will be staged in Mumbai on 17th January and in New Delhi on 19th January 2006. It will bring together over 50 Italian brands including 18 of Italy's finest and most prestigious wine producers, all members of "Grandi Marchi" Institute of Fine Italian wines and representing the very essence of the Italian wine making culture. Besides, there will be a range of Italian wines presented by the President of the International Sommelier Association who will pair them with various Indian dishes. Many of these wines are not yet available on the Indian market. So these guided tastings, which will include presentation in many cases by the top winery representative, promise to offer a host of opportunities to people from trade and food and wine journalists alike, to taste exceptional wines and study new trends prevailing in the world market.

IFOWS 2006 also brings back its much appreciated and popular concurrent events. These include the IFOWS Culinary cup, the IFOWS Gourmet Safari and the IFOWS Grand Italian Gala. Kick-starting the 3-day fiesta will be the IFOWS Culinary Cup on Jan. 18-19, 2006, a unique chef competition where chefs from leading hotels and restaurants will mesmerize the audience with

their culinary magic and create dishes using wine as one of the main ingredients to enhance the quality, flavour and taste of the dish. A distinguished panel of judges including India's and Europe's top chefs and food critics will judge participating entries.

A dinner based on the winning recipes will be the highlight of the dinner on the Culinary Awards Night on January 21st 2006.

The unique IFOWS GOURMET SAFARI on January 20th 2006 promises to take a select few on a gastronomical tour like nothing they've ever experienced before. Four great restaurants in one great evening, the safari will crissross four of Delhi's finest restaurants where the guests will be served a unique four course meal along with a top notch wine selection. This is the only such event of its kind in India and was a smashing hit in Delhi and Mumbai during the previous editions of IFOWS.
